Mrs. Betty Jean Morris was born on April 29,1935 to Charles Buckins and Essie Mae Middlebrooks Buckins Gatlin in Jacksonville, Florida. Both of her parents preceded her in death. She was the youngest of five children. She met Jim A. Morris in Ocilla, Georgia, and they were married for 67 years. They had two children, and she was devoted wife and mother.
Mrs. Morris worked as a Housekeeper, Manufacturing Worker and Cafeteria Cook at Adel Elementary School until she became full time home maker. She was an active member of Mount Zion Church of God in Christ until her failing health. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and being a devoting grandmother.
She leaves to cherish her memories two children, Patricia Ann Morris of Mableton, Georgia and Phil Morris of Adel, Georgia; Four grandchildren, Nicole (Randy) Bell, Minister Phil (Kelly) Morris, Jr., John (Tesha) Morris and Anthony (Amber) Morris; Fifteen great-grandchildren, Sophia, Noah, Trinity, Kaleigh, Phil III, Brook, Javian, Tia, John Jr., Audica, Miah, Liyah, Cali, Hope and Faith; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim A Morris; and four brothers and sisters, Aaron Edwards, Sr., Roseanna Hollis, Carey Middlebrooks and Fred Middlebrooks.
