Deacon Thomas Newsome, Jr. was born in Cook County Georgia on November 8, 1937 to the parentage of Mrs. Annie Lee and Mr. Thomas Newsome, Sr. He received his education in the Cook County Training School System. He enlisted in the U.S. Army November 15, 1956 and Honorably Discharged January 8, 1958 at the rank of Private First Class. Shortly after discharge from the Army he married Elveria E. Yearby and to this union he was blessed with 5 children. He was truly a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle.
Deacon Thomas Newsome, Jr. accepted Christ in his life as his personal savior at an early age at New Prospect Baptist Church. He willingly continued his discipleship under the Pastorship of Reverend W. Z. Thomas, Apostle Larry Camon, and Reverend Samuel Brown. He was Chairman of the Deacon Board plus a faithful and loyal member until his homegoing.
Deacon Thomas Newsome, Jr. was employed as a Foreman for the Machine and Welding Shop at Del Cook Lumber Company, Adel, Ga for over 42 years. He touched myriad lives through his work experience.
Deacon Thomas Newsome, Jr. was preceded in death by his Dad-Thomas Newsome, Sr., Mother-Annie Lee Newsome, Brother- James West Newsome, Daughter-Deborah Newsome Montgomery, and Sister-Annie Pearl Ross.
Peacefully and quietly, God in His infinite wisdom, called him home on January 11, 2022. He leave loving memories to his compassionate family; a loving and devoted wife Elveria Newsome for 63 years of Adel, GA; 4 Daughters, Casey Newsome of Adel, GA, Evangelist Brusilla Newsome of Adel, GA, Santina (Tharren) Printup of Kathleen, GA, and NeKenya (Derek) of Albany, GA; 2 Sons Thomas Newsome, III of Adel, GA and Tony (Joann) Pullins of Hawkinsville, GA; 14 Grandchildren, 13 Greatgrand Children, and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and friends. He and his wife Elveria raised 3 Special Nieces and 2 Special Nephews-James West Newsome, Katrina Newsome, Marilyn Newsome Arnold, Patricia Newsome, and Spencer Newsome; 2 Sister-in-laws, Helen Young of Charlotte, NC and Margaret Williams of Adel, GA. Special Sister/Friend Sister Annette Burns and Linda Seymore of Adel, GA and a Special Son Mr. Willie Grant of Adel, GA. Special friends Mr. and Mrs. Roy Darby and Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Palmer of Adel, GA
