Jerome Lessie Pitts, affectionately known as "Ron" was born on September 2, 1955 in Adel, Georgia to the late Charles James (CJ) and Daisy Irvin Pitts. The fourth of five children, Ron began his Christian journey at an early age. He was baptized at Mt. Calvery Baptist Church in Miami, Florida. He grew up and attended the public schools of Dade County, Florida (Miami Northwestern) and later furthered his education at Miami Dade College. He worked over thirty years as an Operating Room Technician. He is the father of three children. Darnell Pitts (Atlanta, Ga), Antwan Pitts (Miami, Fl) and Candace Robinson (Miami, Fl). He has seven grandchildren.

With Ron, no one was a stranger. His caring and compassionate spirit touched the lives of many, and he will best be remembered for his infectious smile and love for the University of Miami. On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Ron peacefully and quietly entered eternal rest.

Preceding him in death were his two brothers Clifford C. Pitts and Wilbur L. Pitts. Ron is survived by his children and grandchildren, his loving mother, Daisy Pitts Lane, two sisters Dosha (Lawrence)Gates and Rosetta Scott; brother-in-law Lawrence Gates and a host of aunts, nieces/nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.
