Willie Ross Love, Sr. was born on April 24, 1953 to the late Bishop Randolph Love and Estella Love in Douglas, Ga. He made his transition from this life on June 4, 2017.
Willie Ross graduated from the historic first integrated class of Cook High School in 1971. He as Adel star athlete on the basketball team and he was the first athlete to take the school to the State Track and Field Championship that year which placed the South Georgia school on the map.
As a young active member of Love Temple House of Prayer by Faith, he played the drums, sung in the choir and assisted in administrative duties. Later in life he would join Macedonia Baptist Church in Center Cross, Virginia where he served on the Deacon Board.
In August of 1971, he enlisted in the United States Army of 1971, he enlisted in the United States Army which led to a distinguished and honorable career. During the Gulf Was Conflict, he was recognized in Adel News Tribune as a home town hero. Please see the article "People In Service".
He leaves behind to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy, five children, Willie Love, Jr., of Fayetteville, NC., Stephen (Eleanor) Love of Greensboro, NC., one daughter, Pamela Love of Radford, NC, two stepsons, Shawn Joseph of San Diego, CA, and Michael Joseph of Center Cross, VA, his mother, Estella Love of Adel, Ga;; four sisters, Janice (Allen) Stephens of Killeen, TX, Glenda (Anthony) Enurah of Smyrna, Ga., Lillian (George) Grier of Moultrie, Ga., and Diane (Arthur) Robinson of Adel, Ga; one brother, Nathaniel (Tina)Love of Columbus, OH, eight grandchildren, Tyshawn, Micah, Chandler, Josiah, Ari, Levi, Asher, and Emmanuel; one aunt, Lovie Irene Hunter; three uncles, Clinton (LIz) Love of Trenton, NJ, Cleo (Margie) Love of Albany, Ga and Samuel Love of Bristol, PA and a host of cherished family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Lakresha Benet Joseph.
